They join each other once more, traveling up to the Scottish Lowlands for a reunion weekend in a 1970s holiday let. Soon a number of mysterious and horrifying events start to expose the cracks in their relationships, and one by one they discover that trust runs but skin-dee...。故事发生在江南某镇。几年前，母亲王娟（归亚蕾 饰）带着大女儿黄鹂（蒋林静 饰）、次女黄琳（舒畅 饰）嫁给了黄智清（张元 饰），黄当时也有一双儿女黄卓（陈龙 饰）与黄杏（陈男 饰）。满以为重新找到了依靠，不成想王娟却遇上了负心汉，多子女家庭的艰难重担落在了这个再婚女人的肩上。孩子们学习都很出色，但贫困的家境使他们纷纷撕碎了入学通知书，母亲含泪糊起撕碎的通知书，同时也糊起了孩子们未来的梦想。在她最艰难的时候，一个男人向她伸出了援手，但母亲拒绝了。几年之后，四个孩子陆续大学毕业，并都考上了博士，当他们相约回家看望含心茹苦的母亲时，她己经躺在冰冷的地下了......。
