1949年北平和平解放。晋察冀军区政治部抗敌剧社舞美队队长田震英接到紧急任务，政治部张主任要求他率舞美队对天安门进行布置装修，以供新中国开国典礼使用。长期的战乱失修使天安门的破败荒凉大大超出了人们的想象，此时距开国大典只有短短的28天，而抗敌剧社舞美队此前从来没有这种大型建筑的翻建经验。面对这样一个几乎不可完成的任务，田震英和他的队员没有畏怯退缩，为新中国奋斗、完成好任务去见毛主席的质朴信念，让这些从浴血战火中走来的战士充满激情和勇气，庄严地立下了军令状。。A boyfriend, who can barely speak English, embarks on an overseas trip with his girlfriend, who takes charge of planning everything and even handles communication on his behalf.
