影片通过段氏遗孤段十一郎带着刘氏后人刘宇恒、大明公主朱琳琳、沈家后人沈雨馨在江湖中寻找凌云圣痕两把神剑为主线，演绎了一段降魔卫道的曲折故事，最终拿到神剑避免了江湖的一场厮杀，守护了大名的稳固江山。。本片改编自尼古拉·果戈里(1809—1852)的早期作品、同名长篇历史小说《塔拉斯·布尔巴》。小说塑造了哥萨克英雄布尔巴的形象,歌颂了民族解放斗争和人民爱国主义精神。相同题材曾经由俄罗斯班底在1924年拍摄于德国。本次重拍，由苏联人民演员、乌克兰的鲍格丹·斯图普卡（Bogdan Stupka）扮演哥萨克老英雄塔拉斯·布尔巴，伊戈尔·彼得连科（Igor Petrenko）扮演老英雄的小儿子。。As the seasoned infantry and tank units of the German 11th Panzer "Ghost" division move silently into position on the snow covered hills around Nennig Germany ,a battle weary GI and his unit stand ready to defend the small town, a key position in the Allied advance to win the war.
