故事始于2011年。一名杀害年轻女人的杀人狂让首都陷入恐慌，大尉米哈伊尔·索洛维约夫警官追踪这名杀人狂已经两年多。在一次逃避追捕过程中，杀人狂用汽车将索洛维约夫撞倒在地。醒来后，索洛维约夫发现自己穿越回了1979年的苏联。虽然不知道自己身上到底发生了什么，苏联警察索洛维约夫正努力地适应周遭的新环境，同时也在试图找出自己穿越的原因。。Paul Gregory is sprung from jail in London by his accomplice after getting a stretch as expected for robbing a woman who falls for his charms. Only he knows how to get to the money, but his partner is getting greedy and as things turn sour Gregory finds that home in Canada is a long way away。
