A troupe of struggling stage actors is rehearsing for a small-town production of a play. Everything seems to be as it should until one of the cast members turns up dead. In a panic, the others try to get out, only to find they are now locked in the theater with the killer! Which one of them committed the murder, and who will get out alive?。八十年代初的晋西北。 韩冲一直未娶，见腊宏带着哑妻和一双儿女着实可怜，便好心收留在自家。腊宏好吃懒做，常打骂哑妻。韩冲看也不是，管也不是，他的麻烦已经不少，全村都知道他沟对面的泼辣姘头。 没几天，腊宏误踩了韩冲炸獾的套子飞了天。封闭的山村开了锅，干部与长者围绕如何给寡妇赔偿数次协调，怎奈哑巴就是不要钱。 韩冲只得负责养活娘仨直到哑巴明确赔偿金额。。
