A'la, a friend of Akbar, who himself has undergone impriso...。雷纳多阿里纳斯（哈维尔·巴登 Javier Bardem 饰）是著名的古巴作家，1943年，他出生在贫穷偏僻的乡村中，恶劣的生活环境并没有淹没雷纳多智慧的光芒，二十岁那年，他便已经出版了自己的第一本小说。然而，雷纳多之后的写作生涯却并不顺利，他的作品以离经叛道著称，遭到了国内政府的封杀。 与此同时，雷纳多亦是一名同性恋者，他的性取向在当时刻板保守的政府看来是不可原谅的罪过，雷纳多甚至因此而被数次投入监狱。但是，性取向为雷纳多带来了灾难，却也谋得了福利，他因此而获得了前往美国的机会，1980年，这位伟大的作家终于来到了梦寐以求的纽约。然而，在这里的生活却并不如雷纳多所想象的那样美好，十年之后，艾滋病夺走了他年轻的性命。。
