故事以动荡的中东局势为背景，重点描述一个美国家庭在中东工作的种种经历。巴里（亚当·雷纳 Adam Rayner 饰）是某中东国家统治者的儿子，在自我流放20年之后，他带着美国妻子和孩子回到了饱受战火折磨的祖国——来参加侄子的婚礼。他一回来就卷入了危险的政治游戏，迫使他再次面对那个他年少时就已经抛弃的家庭。。Tom Barnaby joins the Causton Chamber of Commerce trip to Brighton as he is suspicious of dodgy mayor Hicks' plan to buy coastal land on which to buy chalets. Also opposed to the plan is Lady Matilda William,who has had threatening letters, as have the local vicar, oily property developer Hugh Dalgleish and hotelier Jenny Russell. Lady Matilda is descended from Richard of Guill...。After amusements working in a restaurant, Charlie uses his lunch break to go roller skating. Mr. Stout makes advances toward the unwilling Edna (whose father and Mrs. Stout had earlier carried on in the restaurant). After a roller skate ballet, Charlie (now as Sir Cecil Seltzer) is invited to a party at Edna's. All the "couples", including a new partner for Mr. Stout. show up.。
