1950年7月，抚顺战犯管理所所长王忠率队在绥汾河接收了从苏联转来的969名日本战犯。以小川立夫为首的战犯们抗拒改造，多次以不吃高粱米、拒不承认自己是战犯等借口在管理所闹事，甚至策划越狱。王忠等人按照中央的指示，既同少数顽固不化的战犯做坚决的斗争，又适时地对他们进行教育和感化，在实施革命的人道主义的同时，督促战犯们真心认罪，接受改造。最终，900多名战犯在法庭上全部认罪，他们被释放回国后，专门成立中国归还者联络会，为反战工作作出贡献。。Sheila Hood is an ex-cop whose marriage is on the rocks.
